The Sunrise Mountain Mustangs will take on the Casa Grande Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Sunrise Mountain is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.9 runs per game this season.
Sunrise Mountain proved they can win big on Wednesday (they won by 17) and on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Liberty 3-1. The win was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won three games in a row.
Ethan Dinnell looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Chase Heid was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Sunrise Mountain: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 7-10 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Jorge Campillo, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 15 runs the game before, Casa Grande was a bit more limited in their match on Monday. They came up short against Canyon del Oro, falling 13-2.
Casa Grande saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Max Wagner, who went 1-for-2 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.
Sunrise Mountain's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-10. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.3 runs over those games. As for Casa Grande, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-13.
Wednesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Sunrise Mountain hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .319.
