Softball Recap: Sodus' Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Sodus dropped their record down to 9-5 on Thursday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They lost 16-1 to the Lyons Lions. The Spartans were red-hot at the plate heading into the game (they scored no less than ten runs in the six matchups prior), but the Lions' pitchers proved too tough.

As for Lyons, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-1. 16 seems to be a good number for they as the squad scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

For Lyons' part, Rylee Richardson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Richardson has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last ten contests.

In other batting news, Kamryn Bonnell was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Lydia Briggs, who went 3-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

Looking ahead, Sodus will be playing in front of their home fans against Whitman at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Lyons, they will face off against Marion at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Lions will need to watch out since the Black Knights have now posted at least ten runs in their last four matches.
