Salt Lake Academy had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They blew past the Waterford Ravens 3-0 on Tuesday. The victory was familiar territory for the Griffins, who have now won four contests in a row dating back to last season.
While Salt Lake Academy won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-16, 25-21, 25-22.
Amelia Anderson paced Salt Lake Academy's offense, picking up 12 kills. Anderson got some help from Mercedes Mendez and her seven assists. Jeisabe Gutierrez and Viridiana Sanchez kept things locked in from the service line: the pair finished with four aces apiece.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Salt Lake Academy will head out to square off against Maeser Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Waterford, they will face off against Freedom Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
