The Chapin Huskies will take on the Horizon Scorpions at 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
Chapin blew Santa Teresa out of the water the last time the pair played, but on Thursday Santa Teresa got their revenge. The Huskies fell just short of the Desert Warriors by a score of 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Huskies have suffered since April 2, 2025.
Meanwhile, Horizon got themselves on the board against Mountain View on Thursday, but Mountain View never followed suit. They blew past the Lobos 11-0. Considering the Scorpions have won four games by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
JERAMIAH PAZ made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, keeping things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in May of 2025. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on CEASER AGUERO, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in May of 2025. GILBERTO SOTO was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Horizon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .750. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Horizon is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.9 runs over those games. As for Chapin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-6-1.
Chapin suffered a grim 8-0 defeat to Horizon in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can the Huskies avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
