Basketball Recap: Westside Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Westside entered their game against Wren on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Westside Rams fell 61-54 to the Wren Hurricanes. The Rams were not able to make up for their defeat to the Hurricanes from their previous meeting back in December of 2021.

When it comes to explaining why Westside lost, don't look at Keemaj Clinkscales. Despite the final result, he went 5 for 8 on his way to 15 points. Clinkscales is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. Xy Moore also deserves some recognition as he posted his first assist of the season.

Even though they lost, Westside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Wren only pulled down eight offensive boards.

Abijah Franklin continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Wren, going 11 of 19 en route to 25 points along with eight boards and three blocks. That makes it 17 consecutive games in which Franklin has scored at least a third of Wren's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Beau Brannon, who posted 11 points and five rebounds.

Westside's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 13-4. As for Wren, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-3.

Westside wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 61-48 win against South Florence on the 20th. Wren has also already played their next contest, a 68-58 victory against Woodmont on the 20th.
