Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Emery/Weiner walked away with it. They took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 90-41 victory over the Mustangs. The win was nothing new for Emery/Weiner as they're now sitting on nine straight.
It was another big night for Zac Laviage, who rushed for 310 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 12.9 yards per carry, and also caught a touchdown. Another player making a difference was Matthew Newman, who rushed for 83 yards and three touchdowns on only nine carries.
Emery/Weiner has yet to lose a game at home this season, leaving them with a 10-1 record. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.6 points per game. As for Giddings Lonestar Southeast, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-4.
Emery/Weiner will take on Veritas Academy at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday. Veritas Academy is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. Giddings Lonestar Southeast does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
