The Metter Tigers lost against the Woodville-Tompkins Wolverines back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Metter ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-38 walloping at the hands of Woodville-Tompkins. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Metter has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Metter lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brandon Smart. Despite the final result, he scored 16 points along with five rebounds. Smart scored a full 42.1% of Metter's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Mobley, who scored six points along with eight rebounds.
Metter's loss was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-3. As for Woodville-Tompkins, their victory bumped their record up to 9-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Metter will be home for the holidays to greet Emanuel County Institute at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Emanuel County Institute is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. Woodville-Tompkins will be home for the holidays to greet Benedictine at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
