Sheehan is 0-3 against Cheshire since November of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Titans will venture away from home to take on the Rams at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Sheehan comes in on five and Cheshire on three.
Sheehan had to skate by with only a one-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 40-point drubbing they dealt Harding on Thursday. The Titans breezed past the Presidents to the tune of 42-2. That 40 point margin sets a new team best for the Titans this season.
Josh Durant had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 87 yards and three TDs on only ten carries. Sebastian Rosario made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.
Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Sheehan proved: they limited Harding to a paltry 2.5 yards per carry. While six picked up at least two total tackles, Durant stood above the rest. He rushed for 87 yards and three touchdowns on only ten carries. Sheehan didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 6.3.
Sheehan's defense didn't let Jayden Wright, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zack O'Brien, Reid Carter, and Maddox Mejias, who each picked up one sack apiece. Sheehan received some extra help from Nolan Kiely, whose fumble return for a touchdown made for one of the most unforgettable moments.
Meanwhile, Cheshire won against West Haven last Friday with 35 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Thursday. The Rams claimed a resounding 35-6 victory over Hillhouse. Given the Rams' advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut football rankings (they are ranked 17th, while the Academics are ranked 106th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sheehan's record is now 6-1. As for Cheshire, their record now sits at 5-2.
Sheehan was taken down by Cheshire 40-13 in their previous meeting back in November of 2019. Thankfully for the Titans, Jake 'Jmac' Mcalinden (who rushed for 153 yards and three scores on only 13 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
