Loveland has gone 8-2 against Milford recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Tigers will look to defend their home field against the Eagles at 5:00 p.m. The timing is sure in Loveland's favor as the squad sits on three straight wins at home while Milford has been banged up by three consecutive losses on the road.
Loveland had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 14-run drubbing they dealt Winton Woods on Friday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 16-2 margin over the Warriors. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine games by seven runs or more this season.
Blake Hatfield was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.
In other batting news, Drew Oerther was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Rylan Litchfield, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, two runs, and one double.
Loveland hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Milford came up short against Edgewood on Saturday and fell 9-6.
Sam Kiger and Caden Hutzel did some serious damage despite the final result: Kiger went 1-for-2 with two runs and one triple, while Hutzel got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Dan Cafferky, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
Loveland's victory bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Milford, their loss dropped their record down to 11-9.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Loveland has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Milford struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Loveland came out on top in a nail-biter against Milford in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
