After three games on the road, Springfield is heading back home. They will take on the Kim/Branson Mustangs at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Cheraw scored an imposing 60 points on Saturday, Springfield still came out on top. Springfield managed a 64-60 win over Cheraw.
Colby Batterton and Cooper Stolebarger were among the main playmakers for Springfield as the former scored 14 points along with seven steals and six rebounds and the latter almost dropped a double-double on 21 points and nine rebounds. Batterton hasn't dropped below two steals for 15 straight games. Another player making a difference was Leland Gable, who scored 11 points along with two steals and two blocks.
Meanwhile, Kim/Branson had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came out on top against Centennial by a score of 51-41.
It was another big night for Brock Doherty, who almost dropped a double-double on 22 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Cameron Rosas was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with four steals and two blocks.
Springfield is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season. As for Kim/Branson, their win bumped their record up to 10-8.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Springfield have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 35.2 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kim/Branson struggles in that department as they've been averaging 23.8 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Springfield didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Kim/Branson in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 46-42 victory.
