Two dominant guards in Riley Turknett and Robyn Cantwell are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Seminole Warhawks will wrap up 2024 with a road trip to face off against the Keswick Christian Crusaders at 11:30 a.m. on Friday.
Seminole is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering Clearwater Central Catholic just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting the Marauders an easy 53-30 victory. While losing is never fun, the Warhawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 348th, while the Marauders are ranked 122nd).

Despite the defeat, Seminole saw an underclassman step up: freshman Aubrey Close posted ten points and four steals. Close is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last six games she's played.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Keswick Christian). They claimed a resounding 74-16 win over Tampa Prep. With that victory, the Crusaders brought their scoring average up to 52.1 points per game.
Seminole better focus on containing Cantwell and Kenyan Heuertz as the pair were huge in Keswick Christian's win. Cantwell had ten points and three steals, while Heuertz went 6 of 9 on her way to 12 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoe Cobourne, who put up ten points.
Keswick Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in four consecutive games.
Keswick Christian has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for Seminole, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 6-5.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Seminole has crashing the boards this season, having averaged 34.5 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Keswick Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.3 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Seminole was dealt a bruising 66-14 defeat at the hands of Keswick Christian in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Seminole, Ava Graham (who went 13 of 25 on her way to 34 points and five rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
