It was a good run, but the West-Oak Warriors unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 48-31 to Walhalla. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for West-Oak in their matchups with Walhalla: they've now lost nine in a row.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Reagan Mobley, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Mobley is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games she's played. Another player making a difference was Miley White, who scored seven points along with seven rebounds.
Walhalla's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marnie Baxter led the charge by scoring 20 points along with five steals. Gianna Ortiz-Viera was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
West-Oak's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Walhalla, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West-Oak will take on Crescent at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Crescent is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak. Walhalla will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Seneca at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th. Seneca will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 176th, while Walhalla is ranked 48th).
