Colonial is 8-2 against Cypress Creek since January of 2015, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Colonial Grenadiers will head out on the road to face off against the Cypress Creek Bears at 7:30 p.m. Colonial knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past four contests -- so hopefully Cypress Creek likes a good challenge.
Colonial pushed their score all the way to 62 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were the victim of a tough 82-62 loss at the hands of Lake Mary. While losing is never fun, Colonial can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 200th, while Lake Mary is ranked 89th).
Meanwhile, Cypress Creek's game on Friday was all tied up 16-16 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They fell to Lake Minneola 44-38. Cypress Creek's defeat continues a unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.
Despite the defeat, Cypress Creek had strong showings from Kason Beezer, who scored 15 points, and Kingston Baez, who scored 7 points.
Colonial's win lifted them to 2-2 while Lake Mary's loss dropped them down to 3-2.
Colonial barely slipped by Cypress Creek when the teams last played back in January, winning 47-46. The rematch might be a little tougher for Colonial since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
