TAPPS Division III District 3 recap Oct. 23, 2012
First Baptist extended the longest winning streak in TAPPS Division III District 3 this week by beating Highlands, 61-12. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Saints.
First Baptist led the league in scoring this week after putting up 61 points on the Blazers. Max Partlo threw for 368 yards and six touchdowns in the win.
Braxton Berry provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Garland Christian Academy topped Rockwall Christian. He completed 17 passes for 425 yards and four touchdowns and also ran for 12 yards. Berry's favorite target this week was Parker Powell, who caught five passes for 184 yards.
Marcus Ketter was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 83 yards on nine carries as the Swordsmen bested Highlands.
Hart had a great week catching the football as the Saints beat Tyrone Breaux's team. He caught eight passes for 240 yards.
First Baptist's Partlo and Hart have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading TAPPS Division III District 3 in both passing and receiving yards. Partlo has thrown for 2498 yards this season, while Hart, a 5-foot-11 receiver, has 72 catches for 1327 yards. The Warriors' Daniel Rorie leads the league in rushing yards with 624.
Garland Christian Academy's Berry is within 93 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Dallas Lutheran. So far this year, Berry has thrown for 1907 yards with 17 touchdowns and 11 interceptions.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Lions take on the Swordsmen. Dallas Lutheran is in sixth place, while Garland Christian Academy is in third place.
