The Liberty Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Chesnee Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Liberty has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.
Liberty posted their biggest win yet this season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 76-46 win over Greenville Tech Charter on the road. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Liberty has posted against Greenville Tech Charter since January 12, 2021.
Logan Smith was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 17 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Dawson Owen, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Chesnee's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a 84-78 hit to the loss column at the hands of Landrum. While losing is never fun, Chesnee can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 128th, while Landrum is ranked 44th).
Liberty's victory ended a 16-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 8-11. As for Chesnee, their defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-9.
Liberty came up short against Chesnee when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 65-61. Can Liberty avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
