The Butler Bears will head out on the road to challenge the Bethlehem Eagles/Banshees at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Butler has given up an average of 12.5 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Butler lost 13-2 to Bullitt East on Monday. The Bears haven't had much luck with the Chargers recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.
Butler saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gracelee Sharp, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. That stolen base was Sharp's first of the season. Another was Dajmyah Hampton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one double.
Meanwhile, Bethlehem entered their tilt with Bardstown on Monday with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. They put the hurt on the Tigers with a sharp 22-2 win. That 20-run margin sets a new team best for the Eagles/Banshees this season.
Avah Waits made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over three innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Taylor Goshorn was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with six RBI, three runs, and two doubles. She continues to improve, besting her previous run total in each of the last three games she's played. Emmalee Hettinger was another key player, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Bethlehem kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in April of 2025.
Bethlehem's record is now 7-3. As for Butler, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Butler came up short against Bethlehem in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, falling 4-0. Can the Bears avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
