Each year since 2006, MaxPreps has recognized outstanding performers in prep girls basketball. America's source for high school sports continues the tradition to close out the 2023-24 season by naming the top player in each state. Selections are based on team success and individual excellence in addition to local and state accolades.
Jaliya Davis of
Blue Valley North (Overland Park) is the 2023-24 Kansas MaxPreps Player of the Year. The 6-foot-1 junior forward led the Mustangs to a 20-5 record and third-place finish in Class 6A.
For the season, Davis averaged 19.8 points and 7.4 rebounds per game. She shot 63 percent from the field and notched a season-high 30 points in a 72-56 win over Derby in the state tournament third-place game.
