After a string of three wins, the Green Hope Falcons's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. Their rough 63-38 defeat to Wake Forest might stick with them for a while. Green Hope was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Wake Forest apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Despite the defeat, Green Hope had strong showings from Swar Dave, who scored 14 points along with 7 rebounds, and Abigail Brown, who scored 8 points along with 9 rebounds and 7 blocks. Brown is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Rachael Baldyga, who scored 4 points along with 6 rebounds.
Leading Wake Forest to victory were Chiquora Miles and Audra Hillman. Miles scored 16 points along with 8 rebounds and 6 steals, while Hillman dropped a double-double on 16 points and 10 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which Hillman has scored at least 25% of Wake Forest's points. Taylor McCartney was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Green Hope's defeat dropped their record down to 3-1. As for Wake Forest, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Green Hope will square off against Heritage at 12:15 p.m. on Saturday. Wake Forest won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Broughton at 6:30 p.m. on December 1st. Hopefully Broughton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
