Daniel waltzed into their matchup on Friday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Pickens Blue Flame. The Lions not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 25th (when they won 13-2).
Emily Gooch made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Lucy Maxon was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI. Maria Bowers was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.
Daniel hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pickens struck out nine times.
