Deer Valley (Antioch, Calif.) beat
Freedom (Oakley, Calif.) 35-7 on the strength of a superb game by dual threat quarterback
Nsimba Webster, who threw three touchdown passes while running for two more.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by Webster to
Jeff Robinson in the second quarter, the Wolverines led 20-7 at the half.
Deer Valley grew its lead to 28 points entering the fourth quarter. DV scored three times in the third, including once on a touchdown.
With the win the Antioch school extended its winning streak to six games. Deer Valley defeated Vacaville 45-34 last week.
Freedom's only touchdown came on a 15-yard run in the first quarter.
The Wolverines entered the contest giving up 23.0 points per game this year. A defensively strong Deer Valley kept the Falcons well below the 24.2 points it had been averaging per game.
DV got revenge for last year's 34-14 loss to Freedom with the victory.
The loss comes after Freedom defeated Castro Valley 49-21 last week. The loss snapped Freedom's two-game winning streak.
In a Bay Valley game next week Deer Valley (6-0) takes on Antioch, and Freedom (2-4) will go up against Heritage also in a Bay Valley game.
