The Murphysboro Red Devils will look to defend their home field  on Monday against the Herrin Tigers at 4:30  p.m. Murphysboro is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 7.4  runs per game  this season.
 On Saturday,  it was close, but  Murphysboro sidestepped Centralia for  a  3-2 victory. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for Murphysboro.
  Austin Hunter tossed a big game,   not allowing a single  earned run and  only one  hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched.
 On the hitting side,  Gage Taylor was  excellent,  scoring a  run and  stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. The team also got some help courtesy of  William Bess, who  scored a  run and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances.
 Meanwhile, Herrin was not able to break out of their rough patch  on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight  defeat. They fell  13-10 to Carterville. Both teams can probably skip cardio this week after making that many trips around the bases.
  LEX GARNER made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and  scored two  runs while going 2-for-2.  NICK HUBBARD was another key contributor,  scoring a  run while going 2-for-4.
 Murphysboro's win  ended  a  five-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 9-11. As for Herrin, their loss dropped their record down to 1-14-1.
