Red Springs hasn't had much luck against St. Pauls recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Red Devils will be taking part in a tournament against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Having struggled with five defeats in a row, Red Springs turned things around against Scotland on Saturday. They came out on top against the Fighting Scots by a score of 7-2.

Xzavier Sinclair was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off 11 hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Terry Locklear, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.
Red Springs always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Meanwhile, St. Pauls gave up the first runs on Saturday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 5-2 victory over Lumberton. The win was some much needed relief for the Bulldogs as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Like Red Springs, St. Pauls also got a great game from a two-way player: Jaden Parker. He struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit. Parker has become a key player for St. Pauls: the team is 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-8 otherwise. Parker was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Jaylen Jacobs was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. St. Pauls is 2-1 when Jacobs posts three or more hits, but 6-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Zayin Hunt, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Red Springs' victory bumped their record up to 6-12. As for St. Pauls, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Red Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like St. Pauls struggles in that department as they've averaged .329. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
