Adding to the longest winning streak in 5A District 13 this week, Hardee beat DeSoto County 26-7. The victory was the seventh in a row for the Wildcats.
Southeast fell to Booker 24-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Courtney Allen was a bright spot for the Seminoles, as he ran for 69 yards in the defeat.
Southeast's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. James Thomas threw for 54 yards and Kevin Johnson had 12 yards receiving. On the ground Allen contributed 69 yards. Larry Woodard helped Southeast's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 14 yards.
Paul Maechtle's team's dynamic duo of Thomas and Johnson proved tough for the Tornadoes to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Woodard helped Southeast's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 14 yards.
Allen was a passing and rushing force as the Seminoles lost to Booker.
Hardee's Kris Johnson and Tristen Lanier have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Johnson has thrown for 756 yards this season, while Lanier has 13 catches for 300 yards. Southeast's Allen leads the league in rushing yards with 1,097.
The Tornadoes made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 2,918 from 3,462. The advance stemmed from a 24-0 victory over the Seminoles last week.
