Robinson is 0-10 against La Vega since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Robinson Rockets will head out on the road to face off against the La Vega Pirates at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Robinson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Friday.
Last Friday, Robinson lost to Gatesville at home by a decisive 68-53 margin. While losing is never fun, Robinson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 835th, while Gatesville is ranked 373rd).
Despite the defeat, Robinson had strong showings from Trevor Stephens, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals, and Peyton Tindell, who scored 15 points. Stephens hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.
Meanwhile, La Vega had already won ten in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.3 points), and they went ahead and made it 11 on Friday. They blew past Salado, posting a 84-56 win at home. La Vega has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 20 points or more this season.
Robinson dropped their record down to 14-18 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for La Vega, their win bumped their record up to 22-4.
Robinson was taken down by La Vega 71-39 when the teams last played back in January. That match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Robinson was down 43-18.
