Rocco Haggard made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits (and not a single walk). Haggard was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2025.
In other batting news, Tanque Verde let Ryan Ashcraft and Liam Brunell run wild. Ashcraft went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Brunell went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run. That's the most doubles Brunell has posted since back in March of 2025.
Tanque Verde always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ysleta only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, Hanks and Cienega finished up on equal footing with a 5-5 draw on Friday.
Hanks' draw gives them a new season record of 5-2-1. As for Tanque Verde, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Tanque Verde has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .528. However, it's not like Hanks struggles in that department as they've averaged .442. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Tanque Verde couldn't quite get it done against Hanks when the teams last played back in February of 2024 as they fell 7-3. Can the Hawks avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
