Payette extended their losing streak to three on Monday, dropping them down to 1-5. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 13-12 heartbreaker at the hands of the New Plymouth Pilgrims. Even if the Pirates couldn't come away with the victory, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
M Smith made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 5-for-5 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. V Walker was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
As for New Plymouth, they pushed their record up to 6-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games.
On New Plymouth's side, Makiah Weideman made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off seven hits (and only one walk). Weideman has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBI.
In other batting news, New Plymouth got a massive performance out of Averi Albisu, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Albisu has posted since back in April of 2025. Another player making a difference was Soraya Miranda, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.
Looking ahead, Payette will welcome Weiser at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Pirates' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wolverines have averaged an impressive 11.3 runs per game this season. As for New Plymouth, they will head out to take on Borah at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
