Meanwhile, Camden County entered their contest against Perquimans on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Bruins fell just short of the Pirates by a score of 3-2. While the Bruins didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Pirates 25-18 in the first set.
Camden County started the match hot and won the first two sets, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 18-25, 17-25, 25-18, 25-16, 15-6.
Manteo will need to focus on slowing down Camryn Underhill, one of several Camden County players who made an impact when they last played. She had nine digs and two aces. Underhill is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Regan Scott, who had five digs and two aces.
Manteo's win bumped their record up to 14-4. As for Camden County, their loss dropped their record down to 18-4.
