The Spring Garden Panthers waltzed into their contest on Saturday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They enjoyed a cozy 64-46 win over Sand Rock. Given Spring Garden's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Sand Rock is ranked 87th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sand Rock's loss came despite strong showings from Kennedy Henderson and Katelyn St.clair. Henderson scored ten points along with five rebounds, while St.clair scored 14 points. Zoey Handy was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six rebounds.
Spring Garden's win bumped their record up to 23-1. As for Sand Rock, their defeat dropped their record down to 17-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Spring Garden will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Coosa Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. As for Sand Rock, Sand Rock and Fyffe will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
