Softball Recap: Monroe Wins Going Away Against Everett

Monroe lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Everett, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Wednesday's matchup. The Bearcats were the clear victors by a 15-3 margin over the Seagulls on Wednesday. The Bearcats might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by six runs or more this season.

Addy Bryant made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.

In other batting news, Monroe got a big performance out of Vivian Knuckey, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI Knuckey has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Brittingham, who scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Monroe is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games. As for Everett, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Monroe will square off against Cedar Park Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Eagles will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something the Bearcats surely won't give up without a fight. As for Everett, they will face off against Ferndale at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Golden Eagles have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.67 runs per game on average), something the Seagulls will no doubt try to take advantage of.
