Baseball Recap: Prospect Ridge Academy Snags Sixth Win in Last Eight Games

Prospect Ridge Academy had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the six-run drubbing they dealt Kent Denver on Thursday. The Miners blew past the Sun Devils 7-1. Considering the Miners have won seven matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Liam Schilling made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over four innings pitched. Schilling was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases and one run. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in May of 2024.

In other batting news, Josiah Bote was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Greyson Brady, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Prospect Ridge Academy has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Kent Denver, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-11.

Prospect Ridge Academy has already played their next game, a 16-1 win against Hinkley on the 10th. Hopefully Kent Denver paid attention to the Miners' matchup: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Miners at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
