Middle College has been on the road for two straight, but on Friday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Melrose Golden Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Middle College has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Last Tuesday, everything came up roses for Middle College on the road against Craigmont as the team secured a 71-28 win.
Even though Melrose has not done well against Memphis East recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Melrose came out on top in a nail-biter against Memphis East and snuck past 82-79. The victory was just what Melrose needed coming off of a 76-50 loss in their prior game.
Melrose's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Devin Sanders Jr, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 20 rebounds. Sanders Jr is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of William Carver, who scored 20 points along with 7 steals and 5 assists.
Middle College's win bumped their record up to 3-1. As for Melrose, the win got them back to even at 4-4.
Middle College beat Melrose 57-49 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. Will Middle College repeat their success, or does Melrose have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
