The West Branch Warriors had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They blew past Moshannon Valley 34-12. The result was nothing new for West Branch, who have now won four contests by 22 points or more so far this season.
Tyler Biggans continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 132 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also throwing for 238 yards and a touchdown while picking up 11.3 yards per attempt. West Branch also got help from Wyatt Schwiderske who showed off his sure hands for 118 receiving yards.
Moshannon Valley's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Rocco Reifer, who rushed for 96 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries. Reifer's longest rush was for an incredible 70 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Yarger, who gained 110 total yards and a touchdown.
West Branch now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Moshannon Valley, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 5-4.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. West Branch will challenge North Star at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully North Star focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up four on Friday. As for Moshannon Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Berlin Brothersvalley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Berlin Brothersvalley will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
