The Emerson Cavaliers will head out to face off against the Bergen Tech Knights at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Bergen Tech will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Emerson extended their winning streak to four on Thursday. The Cavaliers were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over River Dell. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three matches by six runs or more this season.

Sophia Centeno made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Julia Seretis was incredible, going 2-for-3 with five RBI, one triple, and one double. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. Sophie Nisonoff was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Emerson was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Bergen Tech, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They blew past Clifton 7-1 on Thursday. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Shannon Quigley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on six hits and racked up eight Ks.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Natalie Wexler, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Jenny Xu, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
Emerson's record now sits at 5-3. As for Bergen Tech, their record is now 7-4.
Saturday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Emerson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .324. However, it's not like Bergen Tech struggles in that department as they've averaged .358. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Emerson couldn't quite get it done against Bergen Tech in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 as they fell 11-8. Can the Cavaliers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
