Summer Creek extended their postseason success on Saturday against Steele. Everything went their way against the Knights as they made off with a 38-14 win. Summer Creek might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team's won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.
Summer Creek's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Blake Thomas, who rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and Lloyd Avant, who gained 224 total yards and three touchdowns. Avant has been hot recently, having posted 100 or more rushing yards the last seven times he's played.
Meanwhile, DeSoto and Southlake Carroll (ranked six and 44 in the MaxPreps national rankings respectively) squared off in a high-profile matchup. DeSoto walked away with a 45-38 win over Southlake Carroll on Saturday. The win was just business as usual for DeSoto, who after 14 games remain undefeated this season.
Deondrae Riden jr. was on fire: he rushed for 254 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 7.5 yards per carry. Riden jr. hasn't dropped below 100 rushing yards for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Darius Bailey, who threw for 189 yards and two touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Summer Creek's victory bumped their record up to 14-1. As for DeSoto, their win bumped their record up to 14-0.
