The Mt. Clemens Battling Bathers won the last time they faced Rose Leadership Academy, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Mt. Clemens greeted the New Year with with a 46-30 win over Rose Leadership Academy. The win made it back-to-back wins for Mt. Clemens.
Mt. Clemens' success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Le'ila Sears led the charge by dropping a double-double on 11 points and 18 rebounds. Sears has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of A'Laia Richardson, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds.
The win got Mt. Clemens back to even at 4-4. As for Rose Leadership Academy, they bumped their record down to 1-5 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season.
Mt. Clemens will be playing in front of their home fans against Westfield Prep at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Westfield Prep presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Mt. Clemens in Michigan (Westfield Prep is ranked 79th, while Mt. Clemens is ranked 276th). Rose Leadership Academy is on the road again on Friday and play against Chandler Park Academy at 5:30 p.m. on January 5th.
