Gridley is 0-3 against Anderson since March of 2015 but things could change on Thursday. Gridley will take on Anderson at 4:00 p.m. Gridley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.6 runs per game this season.

Kay Pruitt made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Pruitt was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.1 runs per game.
In other batting news, Delanie Cloyd was incredible, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Alexis Alcantar, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Anderson hadn't done well against Redding Christian recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Anderson came out on top in a nail-biter against Redding Christian, sneaking past 9-8. The Cubs' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Like Gridley, Anderson also got a great game from a two-way player: Kolbee Wimmer. She struck out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off nine hits (and not a single walk). Those seven strikeouts gave Wimmer a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing five bases while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caydence Dial, who went 4-for-5 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. She also brought in two RBI, marking her first of the season. Isabel Sturges was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 4-for-5.
Anderson always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .513. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Redding Christian only posted an OBP of .351.
Gridley pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Anderson, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-3.
Anderson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Gridley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.9 hits per game. It's a different story for Anderson, though, as they've been averaging 10 hits. Given Gridley's sizable advantage in that area, Anderson will need to find a way to close that gap.
Gridley suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Anderson in their previous matchup back in March of 2017. Can Gridley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
