After four games on the road, Hartsburg-Emden is heading back home. They will take on the Lutheran Crusaders at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 59-30, which was the final score in Hartsburg-Emden's tilt against the Tigers on Friday. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Hartsburg-Emden in their matchups with the Tigers: they've now lost nine in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Evan Cross, who scored 15 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. That was a full 50% of Hartsburg-Emden's points, marking the 15th time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Jace Whitted was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with three steals.
Meanwhile, Lutheran came up short against the Lancers on Thursday and fell 59-49.
Hartsburg-Emden dropped their record down to 5-19 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road. As for Lutheran, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-14 record this season.
Hartsburg-Emden was able to grind out a solid win over the Crusaders in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, winning 56-47. Does Hartsburg-Emden have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Crusaders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
