The Permian Panthers will be playing at home against the Frenship Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Permian knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Frenship likes a good challenge.
Even though Midland Legacy scored an imposing 31 points on Friday, Permian still came out on top. Permian slipped by Midland Legacy 32-31.
Juzstyce Lara continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 148 yards and three touchdowns. Lara was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards.
Meanwhile, Frenship came up short against Midland on Friday and fell 38-28. It was the first time this season that Frenship let down their fans at home.
Despite their defeat, Frenship saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Hudson Hutcheson, who threw for 315 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown, was perhaps the best of all. Hutcheson is on a roll when it comes to passing yards, as he's now passed for 300 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Leyton Stone, who picked up 136 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Permian's victory bumped their season record to 4-3 while Frenship's loss dropped theirs to 5-2.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Friday's game as the pair haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Permian commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 4.6 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Frenship struggles in that department as they've been even better at 5.3 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Friday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
Permian won a game that couldn't have been any closer when the teams last played back in October of 2022, slipping by Frenship 42-41. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Frenship's Tate Beeles, who picked up 170 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be that much easier for Permian to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
