2A-1 Region III District 9 recap November 5, 2013
Harmony moved up to 422 from 460 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in 2A-1 Region III District 9. The Eagles were able to move up by beating Troup 25-7.
Adding to the longest winning streak in the league this week, Tatum beat Jefferson 45-19. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Harmony's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Micah Ross threw for 94 and 1 touchdown and Tim McCoy had 91 yards receiving. On the ground Juan Montoya chipped in 73 yards.
Montoya was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 73 yards on 17 carries as Tim Russell's team defeated the Tigers. Teammate Eric Contreras added to the ground attack by rushing for 67 yards.
Harmony's offense cannot be tamed this season and the Eagles feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Ross has thrown for 1,048 yards and 7 touchdowns this season, while McCoy has 12 catches for 344 yards.
The Eagles' offense has recorded 308 points this season, making them No. 1 in the league, while Tatum has permitted only 88 on the year.
An important game coming up in 2A-1 Region III District 9 this week will be when Harmony takes on Andy Evans' team. At the moment, the Eagles are in third, while the Eagles are in first.
White Oak led the league in scoring this week by notching 55 points on Sabine.
