The Azusa Aztecs's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 56-32 walloping at the hands of Rio Hondo Prep.
Rio Hondo Prep was led to victory by Tyler Dang and Derek David. Dang scored eight points along with six assists and five steals, while David scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Those seven rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Nate Curtis was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Azusa has been struggling recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-8 record this season. As for Rio Hondo Prep, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-4.
Azusa won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Saddleback at 4:30 p.m. on December 29th. Saddleback has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1. Rio Hondo Prep won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Bellflower at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. Bellflower is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
