The Campbell County Camels will challenge the Beechwood Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Campbell County 3.1, Beechwood 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Saturday, Campbell County came up short against Sayre and fell 6-1.
Meanwhile, Beechwood had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Thorobreds/Fillies a 4-0 shutout.
The result came thanks to Chase Flaherty's shutout, as he gave up just five hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Tyler Fryman was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Caleb Arrasmith was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
They weren't the only ones working in the home run department: Beechwood lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April.
Beechwood pushed their record up to 22-9 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.0 runs on average over those games. As for Campbell County, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 22-11-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Campbell County has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Beechwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Campbell County skirted past Beechwood 5-3 in their previous meeting back in April. Do the Camels have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
