The Banks County Leopards came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with nine straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Union County by a score of 71-58. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Banks County had a senior duo take command as Carley Segars scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and Addison Hoard scored 15 points along with six assists and six steals. Hoard is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reese Murphy, who scored 12 points.
Banks County has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 17-4 record this season. As for Union County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 10-9.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Banks County will face off against Fellowship Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Fellowship Christian is on a four-game streak of home wins, Banks County a 11-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court. As for Union County, they will head out on the road to challenge Athens Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Athens Academy is ranked 164th, while Union County is ranked 145th).
