Village Christian has gone a perfect 10-0 against Whittier Christian recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Crusaders will be playing at home against the Heralds at 6:15 p.m. Village Christian will be strutting in after a win while Whittier Christian will be coming in after a loss.
Village Christian had to skate by with only a one-set margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the three-set drubbing they dealt Maranatha on Tuesday. The Crusaders put the hurt on the Minutemen with a sharp 3-0 victory. The Crusaders not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since September 24th (when they won 3-0).
The final score came out to 25-19, 25-15, 25-15.
Village Christian's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Talia Mardrussian, who had seven digs and four aces, and Izzy Aragon, who had ten digs and two assists. That's the most aces Mardrussian has posted over her last eight matches.
They weren't the only good servers: Village Christian was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 15 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Whittier Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their seventh straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to Maranatha.
Whittier Christian started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The match finished with set scores of 23-25, 25-15, 25-23, 25-18.
Whittier Christian's loss dropped their record down to 5-23. As for Village Christian, their win bumped their record up to 15-16.
Village Christian took their victory against Whittier Christian in their previous matchup back in September by a conclusive 3-0 score. Do the Crusaders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Heralds turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
