Franklinville is 2-8 against Ellicottville since February of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Franklinville Panthers will head out on the road to square off against the Ellicottville Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the pair posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Franklinville waltzed into their contest two weeks ago with two straight wins but they left with three. They escaped with a win against Portville by the margin of a single free throw, 55-54.
Meanwhile, Ellicottville had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They blew past West Valley Central 60-35. With Ellicottville ahead 35-15 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
Ellicottville found their leader in underclassman Blake Smith, who scored 24 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. Owen Chudy was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
Franklinville now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Ellicottville, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.
Franklinville took their win against Ellicottville in their previous meeting back in January by a conclusive 64-43. The rematch might be a little tougher for Franklinville since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
