The Glendale Nitros will be playing at home against the Bell Gardens Lancers at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams each escaped with close wins against their previous opponents.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Glendale had no problem doing just that on Friday. They skirted past the Broncos 2-1. The victory was familiar territory for Glendale who now have four in a row.
They were led to victory by the tag-team duo of
Kevin Anjunyan and
Alejandro Nunez, who scored both of Glendale's goals. The pair have combined for a total of 13 so far this season.
Meanwhile, Bell Gardens has not lost a match since December 9, 2023, a trend which continued in their latest game on Friday. They never let Sultana onto the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Given Bell Gardens' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 80th, while Sultana is ranked 215th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Glendale has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2-2 record this season. As for Bell Gardens, their win bumped their record up to 17-2-3.
