Softball Recap: Saturday's Win Is Holmdel's Sixth in Last Seven Outings

Holmdel lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Shore Regional, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's game. The Hornets' pitchers stepped up to hand the Blue Devils a 12-0 shutout on Saturday. Considering the Hornets have won four contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

Holmdel has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Shore Regional, they moved to 9-4 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Holmdel will take on Middletown South at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Shore Regional, they will venture away from home to face off against Keansburg at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Titans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 15.38 runs per game on average), something the Blue Devils will no doubt try to take advantage of.
