Owen Valley has won 11 straight games at home (dating back to last season), while West Vigo has won 11 straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Wednesday. The Patriots will welcome the Vikings at 5:30 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Owen Valley barely beat Northview the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Patriots blew past the Knights 7-1 on Tuesday. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since April 27, 2018, but that streak is no more.
Haley Amador spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up 12 Ks.
At the plate, Abree Wells was excellent, going 3-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. That's the most hits she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Kalyn Greene, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Meanwhile, West Vigo got themselves on the board against North Putnam on Tuesday, but North Putnam never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 10-0 victory. The Vikings haven't had any issues with the Cougars recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Jaleigh Lindley, who fired off two home runs and six RBI while going 2-for-3. Annabel Coulston was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run and one double.
West Vigo was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .409. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .409 or higher in four consecutive contests.
Owen Valley's victory bumped their record up to 7-4. As for West Vigo, their win bumped their record up to 12-0.
Wednesday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Owen Valley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like West Vigo struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Owen Valley suffered a grim 11-1 defeat to West Vigo in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Patriots have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
