Emily Davis spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered a run (which was unearned) on four hits and racked up 13 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in seven consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makenzie Jones, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Sedona Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Canyon del Oro faced Arizona College Prep in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Dorados won by a run and slipped past the Knights 2-1.
Canyon del Oro also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Amelia Streuber gave up only one earned run on two hits and racked up nine Ks.
On the hitting side, Canyon del Oro's win was truly a team effort as three different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Sammy Hudgens, who went 1-for-3 with one run and one double.
Canyon del Oro's victory bumped their record up to 30-3. As for Canyon View, their win bumped their record up to 26-4.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Canyon View has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.9 hits per game. However, it's not like Canyon del Oro struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 1.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Canyon View came up short against Canyon del Oro in their previous meeting back in April, falling 6-1. Will the Jaguars have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
