Softball Recap: Oakland Extends Home Winning Streak to Seven

There's no place like home for Oakland, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They skirted past the Illinois Valley Cougars 13-11. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Oakers have posted since April 11th.

Maddie Dalberti made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and ten unearned) runs off six hits. Dalberti was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Morgan Swearingen was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Teagan Fauver was another key player, going 1-for-5 with three runs and one stolen base.

Oakland pushed their record up to 15-7 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.1 runs over those games. As for Illinois Valley, with the loss, they broke their six-game winning streak and moved their record to 12-2.

Oakland didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-3 victory against Elkton on the 9th. As for Illinois Valley, they will head out on the road to square off against Bandon/Pacific at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
