Even though the Northwest Cabarrus Trojans scored an imposing 55 points on Friday, the Lake Norman Charter Knights still came out on top. Lake Norman Charter took their game against Northwest Cabarrus 64-55. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Lake Norman Charter.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Lake Norman Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Collin Mcconneyhead, who scored 21 points. Another player making a difference was Braylon Irelan, who scored 17 points.
When it comes to explaining why Northwest Cabarrus lost, one person who can't be blamed is Jordan Gonder. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. The matchup was Gonder's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jake Filipkowski, who scored 9 points along with 6 rebounds.
Even though they lost, Northwest Cabarrus were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lake Norman Charter only pulled down five.
Lake Norman Charter has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. As for Northwest Cabarrus, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-3.
Lake Norman Charter will be playing at home against Pine Lake Prep at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in North Carolina (Pine Lake Prep is ranked 184th, while Lake Norman Charter is ranked 198th). Northwest Cabarrus will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Robinson at 7:30 p.m. on December 19th.
